OSP SEEKING INFORMATION RELATED TO THEFT AND TOSSING OF HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION ZONE CONES AND BARRIERS INTO SIUSLAW RIVER
Posted: June 7th, 2009 12:14 PM

Oregon State Police (OSP) is asking for the public's help to identify the person(s) responsible for stealing and tossing 50 traffic cones and two barricades into the Siuslaw River from the area of a bridge restoration project on Highway 101 on the south city limits of Florence.

On June 4,2009 OSP Trooper Justin Goldsmith responded to investigate the theft and criminal mischief of 50 traffic cones and 2 barricades that were discarded off the Siuslaw River Bridge into the river. The cones were being utilized to assist in the Siuslaw River Bridge restoration project. Many of the cones are visible in the water, but not likely retrievable due to the waters depth.

The replacement value of the cones is estimated approximately $3,000.

If anyone has information to assist in this case please contact Trooper Goldsmith at (541) 997-9635.
